About
Ty Barnes
"Driven by a commitment to patient safety and a fascination with the science of anesthesia."
I am a sophomore at Auburn University pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences with a concentration in Pre-Anesthesiologist Assistant studies. A member of the Auburn Honors College, I maintain a 4.0 GPA while actively engaging in both clinical and academic pursuits.
My interest in anesthesia began long before my time at Auburn — the precision required, the direct impact on patient outcomes, and the intersection of pharmacology, physiology, and critical care drew me toward this specialty. Through clinical shadowing at East Alabama Medical Center, I observed certified registered nurse anesthetists across a wide range of procedures, gaining firsthand exposure to the decision-making and technical skill required in the operating room.
Outside of my studies and clinical experiences, I serve as Events Coordinator for the COSAM Executive Student Council, perform with the Auburn University Marching Band, and contribute to the community through Auburn Impact volunteer work. I also spent several years coaching competitive gymnastics and tumbling — an experience that shaped my ability to lead, communicate, and remain composed under pressure.
